Year 11 Prom and Breakfast & Ballgowns

Two fantastic events for year 11 students to celebrate their five years at Maltby Academy.

Year 11 Prom

Year 11 students enjoyed their Year 11 Prom last week at Doncaster Racecourse.  Students arrived in a variety of cars and were taken on the red carpet to the suite.  Professional photographers were waiting to capture their special night and a magician was entertaining the students at their tables with some magnicificant slight of hand tricks.

Mr Rose was the host for the evening and was 'parachuted' in to tell the students the plans for the night.  It would consist of dinner (with special video messages from parents), formal awards and then a 30 minute entertainment slot from our very own 'Prom Direction', otherwise known as Mr Archer, Mr Wheeler, Mr Hughes and Mr Boon.

"It was the best night ever, from start to finish there was something happening.

MA does the best Prom"    Year 11 Student

Prom Direction delighted the audience with a variety of games and prizes, secret filming at students' houses and an opportunity to 'win the Maltby ads'.  They  capped this off with a rendition of 'These Days' by Take That which had the audience off their seats and dancing along.

Breakfast and Ballgowns

Students were invited back to Maltby Academy the next morning to have Breakfast and a leavers assembly wearing their Prom attire.  They watched the videos and photo booth pictures from the previous night and received a number of messages of advice from staff to help them in the next stage of their life.  At 12.00 noon, students and staff across the Academy held a minute's silence in recognition of the tourists who had lost their lives in Tunisia.   Finally, the students went outside to undertake a 'balloon stomp'.  They each burst a balloon and one lucky winner walked away with a Kindle Fire.

Both events provided special memories for the students.
