Cheerleading Success

MA students success in cheerleading!

Maltby Academy student Phoebe Shore, (along with fellow students - Imogen Shore and Harriet Hill) are part of the 14 girl cheerleading squad who have recently been to Germany to compete in the Elite Cheerleading Championships. The team have also previously competed in the European Championships in Croatia and the World Championships in Berlin.

Even though they didn’t win a medal, the organisers of the World Championships offered their team a place to compete in the World Championships competition in Florida in April 2018, which is described as "every cheerleaders dream".

Following years of gymnastics, Phoebe made the move to cheerleading in 2012 and joined the Elite Level 6 team who train at Wickersley. The squad is made up of 14 girls who all have various positions from flyer, backstop, base and front. Their routines include jumping, tumbling, stunts and dance and they are working on their routine ahead of the World Championships to ensure it is of the highest standard.

Good luck to the team!
