Battlefields Trip

Battlefield trips to Ypres.

The recent Battlefields trip saw students from the Academy visit and explore various places associated with World War One including Tyne Cot Cemetery, Langemarck, Essex Farm, Memorial Museum Passchendale, Sanctuary Wood, Caterpillar Crater and Hill 60. They also went to a Last Post ceremony at the Menin Gate where two students laid a wreath on behalf of the Academy.

Year 11 student Joseph Loveday, with the help of the other students also found the grave on Town Councillor - Keith Stringer’s great uncle. Mr Stringer was very grateful to Joseph for finding it and placing a poppy on the grave. Pictured below - Joseph with Mr Stringer and the grave (pictured from the Rotherham Advertiser).
