Have your contact details changed?

If so you need to contact the Attendance Office at Maltby Academy. Call 01709 812864 Option 1. Up to date information is vital to allow the school to communicate with you efficiently and effectively.

Working Together

Students, parents/carers and the Academy need to work together to improve attendance and punctuality. We can all play our part to ensure this happens:

Students

  • Attend school every day and on time.
  • Achieve an attendance score of at least 92% (and be rewarded for this).
  • Sign in at student reception if you arrive late to school or after an appointment to avoid an unauthorised absence mark being recorded.
  • Sign out at Student Reception if leaving school for any reason (e.g. going home due to sickness or for an appointment).
  • Bring a note or appointment card to school explaining any absence.
  • Talk to your Tutor if you are finding it hard to attend.

Parents

  • Encourage your child to attend school every day and on time.
  • Report your child's absence before 9.15am by contacting the Attendance Office.
  • Avoid holidays during term time. The Head Teacher may authorise up to 10 days, but will only do so in exceptional circumstances. Please request a holiday form from Student Reception. (The school can now request fixed penalties to be issued to parents taking unauthorised holidays during term time).
  • Avoid keeping your child off all day. Try to arrange appointments as early or as late as possible in order to miss fewer lessons rather than a full day. Similarly, if your child is ill, but feeling better by lunch - send them in. The more lessons they attend the less they will miss.
  • Let us know if your child is having problems attending school. We will try to resolve any problems we can.

Academy

  • Maltby Academy have a dedicated Attendance Team to work with parents/carers and students to improve attendance.
  • If your child is absent and you have not let us know, we will contact you to find out the reason for the absence to enable us to amend their attendance mark accordingly.
  • We have invested in an automated contact system which allows us to contact parents/carers more quickly and we now contact parents when students are missing in the morning.
  • Where the Academy is not able to contact you, the tutor will request an absence note when your child returns to school.
  • We reward good attendance in several ways such as through In It To Win It and the Attendance League.
  • Detentions are set for lateness.
