  • Implemented March 2014 by the Maltby Learning Trust with appointment of Strategic Leader to develop Early Help/Early Intervention Services for Learning Communities across the Rotherham Borough.

  • By March 2015, Rotherham MAST was working with 21 schools across Rotherham (6 secondary and 15 primary).

          1:1 Mental Health Intervention in Schools

  • By March 2015, Rotherham MAST offering 97 individual sessions across 20 schools.

  • By February 2015, 219 children and young people had engaged with the service.

          Family Mental Health Intervention

  • Rotherham MAST offering 21 sessions in family homes across 11 schools.

  • By February 2015, 40 families had engaged with the service.

    Staff support and counselling

  • Two formal counselling sessions provided in 1 learning community plus drop-in access.

  • After-school drop-in access operated in 1 primary school.

    Training for front-line professionals

  • 1 course delivered in November 2014 (Coping with Life: Self Esteem and Mental Health).77% of attendees rated course as excellent and 23% as good

  • 1 course delivered in March 2015 (Surviving Childhood and Adolescence: Self-Harm and Self-Injury). 78% if attendees rated course as excellent and 17% as good.

    LAC Counselling Service

  • Launched February 2015 and providing 1:1 therapeutic support for Rotherham’s looked after children.

          Supervision

  • Counselling supervision provided for counsellors working with children and young people in other settings as well as staff in schools, supporting challenging cohorts of children.

             Student placements

  • Rotherham MAST currently has 1 registered Social Worker within its multi-disciplinary team of Mental Health Practitioners who has Practice Educator status.Additionally the Strategic Leader has Practice Supervisor status.Arrangements are in place with Sheffield Hallam University to take both Placement 1 and Placement 2 students.

  • Rotherham MAST currently has 1 registered Art Therapist within its multi-disciplinary team of Mental Health Practitioners who is able to take Art Therapist students from Leeds Beckett University/Sheffield Health & Care Trust.
