Students are expected to achieve Level 5+ in all subjects at Key Stage 3.
The meaning of other codes you may see are:
Code | Meaning |
A | Absent |

Key Stage 4
For GCSE's and similar qualifications, students can receive the following grades:
Grade | A* | A | B | C | D | E | F | G | U | X |
Level | Level 2 | Level 1 | No Level | |||||||
N.B. A grade 'U' stands for 'Unclassified' - this is where a student has not achieved enough marks to reach a classified grade and an 'X' represents a student who has marks pending.
If students decide to progress into further education after Year 11, the level of qualification they can undertake will depend on the grades they achieved at GCSE. AS and A Levels are classed as Level 3 qualifications, and students whose GCSE results place them in the Level 1 banding may have to first undertake an additional year of further education to boost their study level, before they are allowed to enrol on a Level 3 course.
